David Hudson

Founder / Director

David co-founded Melbourne Recruitment Services (MelRec) in 2018 after more than 20 years working across the recruitment industry in Ireland and Australia. The vision was simple but powerful: to create a recruitment business built on hard work, discipline, respect and a culture where people look after one another. Since then, David has played a hands-on role in growing MelRec into a trusted provider of qualified tradespeople and skilled personnel across a range of industries.

Under David’s leadership, Melbourne Recruitment Services has expanded to include Hudson Jones Recruitment Group, employ4good and MelRec Contract Cleaning.

Known for his straightforward, people-first approach, David is passionate about creating opportunities for growth—for clients, candidates and his own team. His focus on building strong relationships, fostering a positive workplace culture and maintaining uncompromising service standards continues to shape the success of Melbourne Recruitment Services and its associated businesses.

Tony Howells

General Manager

Tony brings over 20 years of specialised recruitment experience across the industry in both the UK and Australia, now channelled into his role as General Manager at Melbourne Recruitment Services. Since joining the team in early 2020, Tony has played a key role in managing the day-to-day operations while expanding MelRec’s reach.

As General Manager, Tony plays a dual role, overseeing operational excellence and driving new business development. He collaborates closely with David to manage staffing, maintain service standards and foster client relationships

Known for his hands-on leadership and genuine commitment to client success, Tony is a core pillar of MelRec’s reliable, high-quality service model—especially when it matters most.

Matt Ryan

National Manager - Executive Division

With over 23 years’ experience in recruitment and talent acquisition, in both the UK and Australia, Matt Ryan leads the Executive Division at Hudson Jones, overseeing nationwide executive search operations to secure senior management and C-suite level talent. Matt’s background has also seen him manage national accounts, writing winning tenders and securing multimillion-dollar preferred supplier agreements.

Passionate about building trusted relationships with clients and candidates, and known for his collaborative and insight-driven consultative approach, Matt works closely with clients to understand organisational culture and strategic objectives, guiding businesses toward leadership hires that drive long-term success, and prides himself on providing the right candidate for every role, every time.

Matt’s 20+ year career in recruitment has seen him secure top-level talent across a number of industries and sectors, including Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Construction, Engineering, and Accounting and Finance.
We are also excited to announce that due to Matt’s recent background, and extensive connections and network recruiting for Australia’s leading agencies, Matt will also be continuing to represent some of the best recruiting talent in Australia, and will be adding Rec2Rec as a new and additional service offering for the Hudson Jones Recruitment Group.
